About Spanish Bay
Spanish Bay is an area about an hour south of Caye Caulker on the barrier reef. This area boasts an interesting combination of coral canyons that eventually lead to coral walls at a max depth of about 24 Meters in most places. This trip begins at 8:15 AM and normally returns at around 3:00 PM.
Spanish Bay offers a great chance of seeing turtles, eagle rays and eels. It is also one of the few places where divers have also reported seeing manatees on the outer side of the barrier reef on very rare occasions. Standard dive profiles for this dive are normally 24 Meters for the first dive and 18 Meters for the second dive.

Sea Sickness?
Be prepared
Even if you don’t normally get sea sick, the journey to and from the dive site can be choppy and, due to our prevalent east-south-east wind you are liable to get motion-sickness. Stock up on anti motion sickness tablets before the trip and try to avoid alcohol the night before. It is quite common for surface conditions to be choppy upon entry at the site.
Surface Conditions
& Entry Considerations
It is quite normal for the sites near Esmeralda to be choppy at the surface, even in normal conditions. Divers should practice keeping their masks on and regulators in when at the surface before and after the dive.
